  1. A scorpion is any arachnid of the order 
  2. Scorpiones. Common in the tropics and 
  3. subtropics, scorpions have large pincers and 
  4. long tails ending in upcurved poisonous 
  5. stings, though the venom is not usually fatal 
  6. to a healthy adult human. Some species reach 
  7. 25cm (10inches).
